This belt uses tough open coat aluminum oxide on a heavy Y- weight polyester backing with a resin bond system. It is an open coat belt and its polyester backing permits users to wash their belts for additional savings.

With its tough, wedge-shaped structure, aluminum oxide delivers deep penetration into hard materials while minimizing grain shedding and fracturing. It is especially effective for grinding high-tensile-strength materials such as carbon steels, alloy steels, tough bronzes, and hardwoods. Chosen when durability and resistance to fracturing are critical, aluminum oxide abrasives are most often recognized by their typical brown color.
Open Coat Abrasive Grain Coverage With abrasive grains covering about 50 60% of the surface, these products provide greater flexibility, faster cutting, and a coarser finish while reducing the risk of loading. Open Coat abrasives are widely used in woodworking applications, with more limited use in metalworking.
Resin bond backings offer greater resistance to heat, are more durable in heavy stock removal applications and provide the best all-around bond system.
