This closed-coat aluminum oxide belt features an X-weight 65/35 polyester-cotton backing with a durable resin bond. It is ideal for sanding and fine finishing wood and ferrous metals, especially where a smooth finish and added flexibility are needed.

With its tough, wedge-shaped structure, aluminum oxide delivers deep penetration into hard materials while minimizing grain shedding and fracturing. It is especially effective for grinding high-tensile-strength materials such as carbon steels, alloy steels, tough bronzes, and hardwoods. Chosen when durability and resistance to fracturing are critical, aluminum oxide abrasives are most often recognized by their typical brown color.

Closed Coat Abrasive Grain Coverage The surface is fully covered with abrasive grains, providing a denser cutting action. This design delivers a smoother finish and higher stock removal throughout the product’s life. When loading is not an issue, Closed Coat abrasives offer longer life and lower overall cost, making them a preferred choice in both metalworking and woodworking applications.

Resin bond backings offer greater resistance to heat, are more durable in heavy stock removal applications and provide the best all-around bond system.
