Stellite-tipped resaw bandsaw blades are high-performance tools engineered for heavy-duty, precision wood cutting. They are commonly used in lumber mills and sawmills, and are ideal for cutting dense hardwoods such as oak, maple, teak, rosewood, and hickory, as well as tropical and abrasive wood species. Stellite, a trademark of Kennametal Inc., was previously owned by Union Carbide's Stellite Division. Originally invented by Elwood Haynes in the early 1900s, it was developed as a cutlery material resistant to staining and frequent cleaning. Stellite refers to a series of cobalt-chromium alloys engineered for exceptional wear resistance. These alloys may also include tungsten or molybdenum, along with a small but crucial amount of carbon.
