Magnate KF2X50R40 2" x 25 Yard/Roll, Two Rolls - 400 Grit; J Weight; Aluminum Oxide, Open Coat, Resin Bond
Made with a highly flexible J-weight cotton backing, these belts combine excellent conformability with the strength required for light-to-medium-duty sanding on contoured wood surfaces, intricate profiles, and soft metals. The open-coat configuration features deliberate spacing between the abrasive grains, which reduces loading and maintains a consistent cutting action on materials that typically clog standard belts. They are exceptionally effective for detail-sanding and slack-of-belt processing on resinous softwoods like pine, fir, and cedar, as well as hardwoods and oily exotic species where heat dissipation and chip clearance are critical for preventing surface burning. Beyond traditional woodworking, these flexible cloth belts are highly suitable for contour blending and light finishing on soft non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper, where the open coat prevents the soft metal from loading the abrasive surface. They also perform reliably when shaping and smoothing painted or primed components, fiberglass, and various plastics, where the reduction of static-charged dust buildup is necessary to maintain belt life. However, these belts are not intended for heavy, high-pressure stock removal or aggressive industrial calibration due to the lightweight nature of the J-weight backing and the reduced grain density of the open-coat design. They are also unsuitable for ultra-fine high-gloss polishing, heavy-duty ferrous metal grinding, or continuous wet sanding environments. Because the grains are spaced apart, they are less effective than closed-coat belts for achieving a maximum-density scratch pattern on extremely hard materials.

This Aluminum Oxide grain, J weight, resin cloth backing of shop roll offers more flexibility for general purpose cleanup operations with better shape conformity.
With its tough, wedge-shaped structure, aluminum oxide delivers deep penetration into hard materials while minimizing grain shedding and fracturing. It is especially effective for grinding high-tensile-strength materials such as carbon steels, alloy steels, tough bronzes, and hardwoods. Chosen when durability and resistance to fracturing are critical, aluminum oxide abrasives are most often recognized by their typical brown color.
Cancer and Reproductive Harm WARNING: Cancer: Avoid Inhaling Wood Dust/Cobalt-metal-Powder ADVERTENCIA: Cancer - Evite inhalar polvo de madera/polvo metalico de cobalto Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Your risk from exposure to these chemicals varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure, work in a well-ventilated area and with approved safety equipment, such as dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
